Jessica Hardy

Doctoral Student,  Evaluator,  Conservationist,  Social Justice Advocate,  Animal-Lover,
& Dancer (for the fun of it!)

Hi There!

I'm Jessica Hardy, a doctoral student at Virginia Tech. I am a scholar of environmental justice and societal change. My studies focus on understanding how the adoption of more ecologically regenerative and justly redistributive economic systems could promote the achievement of environmental justice--locally, nationally, and globally.  Through my research, I seek to gain a better understanding of how these transformations may be realized. I am particularly interested in examining how social movements and intentional community planning and development processes function and intersect to promote the adoption of transformative economic strategies. I am also interested in examining how evaluation, adaptive management, and conflict management praxis can best be leveraged to bolster the transformative potential of social movements and community planning and development processes.
